Battle City Crusade - Battle Report #1

The First Battle of the Crusade: Planet-fall

A cacophony of vox interference assailed all bands, heightening senses as voidships from across the systems broke atmosphere, a menacing whisper of unseen perils hiding in the void. Unfazed, ships raced towards the surface of one of the numerous mysterious worlds within the system, with the flaming inferno of reentry signalling their descent.

Upon planetfall, the crew did not find bustling metropolises of thriving civilizations but the haunting remnants of long-forgotten societies. Abandoned structures loomed like specters of the past, their silent testimony to the passage of time. Yet, amidst the desolation, there was a perplexing absence—a void where technology and riches should have flourished, now swallowed by the yawning maw of oblivion.

As the ship's cogitators hummed with activity, they revealed a grim tableau of conflict unfolding across the system. Factions clashed in brutal engagements, drawn by promises as hollow as the void itself. But beneath the chaos, a malevolent presence stirred in the shadows, its dark machinations veiled from sight. In the depths of the unknown, something ancient and sinister awaited, its hunger gnawing at the edges of consciousness, its purpose shrouded in darkness.

Adeptus Custodes vs Ultramarines - Planet Ares

The jungle world of Ares bore witness to a clash of titans as the golden warriors of the Adeptus Custodes met the might of the Ultramarines. The dense canopy and treacherous terrain of Ares turned into a savage battleground, where the Emperor’s finest clashed in a brutal contest of supremacy. The Custodes, paragons of martial prowess, fought with a ferocity that matched the zeal of the Ultramarines.

The battle’s crescendo was marked by the sudden descent of Ultramarine Terminators, who struck from the flanks with surgical precision, annihilating four Custodian Terminators in a single devastating ambush. The golden giants fell, but their brothers retaliated with unmatched ferocity, their spears and blades flashing through the verdant gloom.

In the final throes of combat, only two Intercessors remained, their armor scarred and bloodied. In a last, desperate charge, they threw themselves at Shield-Captain Keith. The Intercessors nearly dealt a grievous wound to the Captain, their bravery a testament to the Ultramarines' indomitable spirit. However, the Custodes' discipline and skill prevailed. With a final, sweeping strike, Shield-Captain Keith ended their struggle, securing victory for the Adeptus Custodes.

Now, the Custodes consolidated their hold on Ares, purging the jungle of any remaining Ultramarine forces. They established fortified enclaves, ensuring the Emperor’s will was enforced on this verdant world. The jungle, once wild and untamed, began to echo with the disciplined march of Custodian patrols, their golden armor glinting in the dappled sunlight.

Leagues of Votann vs Orks - Planet Kraz-V

On the chaotic jungle world of Kraz-V, the disciplined forces of the Leagues of Votann faced the unrelenting tide of Ork brutality. The battle erupted in a cacophony of roars and gunfire as the Orks charged, eager for a good scrap. The Leagues of Votann met the green horde with disciplined volleys of fire, their Hearthkyn warriors holding the line against the onslaught.

The left flank saw a particularly savage clash as a massive Ork Dredd waded into combat with a contingent of Hearthkyn, led by Khal and supported by a Hekaton Land Fortress. Despite the furious resistance, the Ork Dredd proved nearly indestructible, shrugging off hit after hit and smashing its way through the Votann lines.

In the center, an Ork Wagon rumbled forward, disgorging a mob of Boyz who tore into the Hearthkyn defending their home objective. On the right, Ork Kanz and Chuckaz blasted away at the Votann bikes, only to be counterattacked by an Einhyr Champion who fought with a fury unmatched, mowing down the Ork machines in a whirlwind of violence.

Despite the valor of the Leagues of Votann, the Ork tide proved unstoppable. With the Hearthkyn overrun and their lines shattered, the Orks claimed victory. The jungle of Kraz-V now echoed with the guttural cheers of Orks as they established crude fortresses and prepared for their next Waaagh!, their control over the planet a testament to their brutal strength.

Adepta Sororitas vs Imperial Knights - Planet Atraea

The desolate wastelands of Atraea became the stage for a desperate battle between the fervent warriors of the Adepta Sororitas and the towering war engines of the Imperial Knights. The Sisters of Battle, their faith unwavering, launched a crusade against the mechanized behemoths that strode across the barren sands.

The climax of this brutal engagement came when Canoness Ariel Vidanski, her faith a beacon amidst the chaos, led a charge against the Warlord Knight Raven. Though she fell in battle, her spirit was rekindled by the divine will of the Emperor, rising once more to strike a devastating blow. With a righteous fury, she dealt ten grievous wounds to the Knight, her sacrifice a testament to her unwavering devotion.

Despite the heroism of the Adepta Sororitas, the sheer power of the Imperial Knights proved overwhelming. One by one, the Sisters fell, their lines breaking under the relentless advance of the Knights. The wasteland of Atraea now trembled under the tread of the Knights' colossal feet as they consolidated their victory, establishing dominion over the desert world and preparing their engines for future conquests.

Adeptus Mechanicus vs Tyranids - Planet Quirinus

On the desert world of Quirinus, the disciplined ranks of the Adeptus Mechanicus clashed with the ravenous swarms of the Tyranids. The barren dunes became a battleground where technology and faith faced the relentless hunger of the Great Devourer. The Mechanicus forces, led by the House Taranis Armigers, fought with mechanical precision against the alien tide.

Amidst the chaos, Greg the Neurotyrant emerged as an unstoppable force, withstanding blow after blow and refusing to succumb. His monstrous presence seemed invincible, embodying the Tyranid hive mind’s indomitable will. As the battle raged, the arrival of the Armigers marked a turning point, their timely intervention saving the Chosen of the Omnissiah from annihilation. In a climactic duel, the Armigers managed to bring down Old One-Eye, the monstrous Tyranid bioform, buying precious time for their comrades.

Despite these heroic efforts, the Tyranid swarm proved too numerous and relentless. The Adeptus Mechanicus, battered and bloodied, were forced to retreat, leaving Quirinus in the grasp of the Tyranids. The planet now echoed with the chittering of alien monstrosities as the Tyranids began to consume all in their path, their victory securing a foothold for the Great Devourer in this desolate wasteland.

Epilogue: The New Masters of the Planets

The victors of these battles now consolidate their hold on their respective worlds. The Adeptus Custodes on Ares, the Orks on Kraz-V, the Imperial Knights on Atraea, and the Tyranids on Quirinus each fortify their positions, preparing for the inevitable conflicts to come. Each faction, driven by their own motives and imperatives, now seeks to exploit their new territories, shaping the fate of these worlds in the fires of war.

As the dust of the First Battle of the Crusade settles, distant warp signatures continue to enter the Ecazeium system. Whispers in the dark begin to be picked up over vox communication, hints of a deeper, more insidious threat lurking at the edges of perception. The galaxy remains in the grip of eternal war, and in the shadows, a malevolent presence bides its time, ready to strike. The echoes of conflict reverberate across the stars, heralding more strife and bloodshed in the dark future of the 41st Millennium.
