The Battle City Crusade returns for its fourth campaign, and this time we’re heading straight into one of the most fought-over warzones in Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon.
Across a multi-month narrative campaign, your battles will have a real impact on the outcome of the eternal war. Every game contributes to a larger planetary conflict where territory changes hands, objectives evolve, and the outcome is shaped by the players taking part week after week. It’s a shared war story played out on the tabletop.

How the Armageddon Crusade Works
The campaign is divided into four phases, representing the escalation of the war. Each phase changes objectives and priorities, so the way you approach your battles will evolve as the conflict grows more desperate.
Players will join one of three alliances:
Gatebreakers – The defenders trying to hold the planet together
Desecrators – The invading forces driving the conflict forward
Marauders – Opportunists exploiting the chaos for their own gain
Each faction has different goals in every phase. You are not all trying to do the same thing and that means even battles between the same armies can matter in completely different ways to the wider war.
Victory earns more than bragging rights. Winning games pushes your alliance forward in the campaign and unlocks narrative opportunities across the phase.
Phase Challenges & Rewards
Each phase contains a special challenge tied to the unfolding campaign.
- Every player gets 4 attempts per phase (one per weekly game)
- Win your game and you may attempt the phase challenge, to earn that phases reward
- Complete all four phase challenges across the campaign to earn a special end-of-crusade reward
This means every player always has something to play for — even if the wider war isn’t going their way.
Create Your Own Warlord
This Crusade uses the new custom character creation rules.
Your Warlord won’t just gain XP, over the campaign they will:
- Gain honours and scars
- Build rivalries
- Develop a reputation across the warzone
We strongly encourage modelling and narrative development. Name your character, track their history, and represent their growth on the model if you want. Crusade works best when commanders feel like individuals rather than stat blocks.

What You Need to Bring
Required
- A 1000 point Crusade army
- Dice, tape measure and markers
- A way to track Crusade progression (book, cards or app)
Recommended
- Your own Warlord model (named!)
- Tokens/markers for abilities and battle effects
- A Crusade journal (you’ll want it by the end)
House Rules
- No single unit over 250 points
- No epic heros, you can create your own!

Army Size
Games will be played at Incursion level (1000 points) to keep weekly play manageable and consistent for all players.
For new players — you don’t need a massive collection to join. A small force is enough, and it will grow naturally across the campaign.
