The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate ‘Frank’ was Japan’s fastest fighter aircraft during the Second World War. It could match and exceed any Allied aircraft of the time for speed, boasted a heavy armament of cannon and machine guns, and had exceptional manoeuvrability. Over 3,500 Ki-84 were built between 1943 and 1945.
